Program Overview:
The Minority Retirement & Security Program (MRS) is a first time grant offering administered by the U.S. Department of Education and funded by the Social Security Administration. Hampton University was one of four universities awarded this opportunity. The program at Hampton University presents a new direction to address the need for financial research and financial education in minority and low income communities. The program develops minority graduate students to become researchers and community facilitators in financial education. It also peaks their interest in specific financial education research topics.
Purpose:
To increase the number of researchers at Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs)who conduct high quality culturally sensitive research within minority and low-income communities
