The School of Business, Graduate College, and the Hampton University Online Program collaborate to offer a hybrid online doctoral program in business which includes two mandatory summer residencies of four weeks each. The Business Administration track includes courses in accounting & finance and marketing & management. The Hampton University doctoral program in business includes 61 to 84 credit hours with a concentration in Business Administration. The program culminates with a published article and a dissertation with a final dissertation defense held on campus. 

The target market for the Ph.D. program is professionals located nationwide who desire an advanced degree in business to excel in their careers. In addition, the program responds to current MBA or technical graduate students aspiring to become consultants, researchers or academicians and students who seek advanced degrees to support leadership roles in organizations. Online courses will be provided during the academic year. Hence, the program is suitable for busy professionals seeking an advanced degree in business to increase their credentials in their current or future industrial role and/or for advancement in academia.

Students enrolled in the Hampton University doctoral program may select six graduate level courses that will result in at least 18 credit hours of subject matter in a discipline. Semester sessions are sixteen weeks in duration with the exception of summer residencies, which are four-week terms. All coursework with the exception of summer residency will be facilitated online. Dissertation work will commence after successful completion of all coursework with a minimum grade point average of 3.0, acceptance of a published scholarly article, successful passing of the comprehensive examination, and presentation of an acceptable dissertation proposal. Final defense of the dissertation is required.
