The mission of the Department of Finance & Economics is to prepare students for careers in a global market, and for graduate study. The Department achieves its mission through curricula structured to enable students to comprehend, analyze and critically assess an entity\u2019s financial condition and optimize its value. Finance:<\/strong><\/p>

The Department offers programs of study in Finance that lead to the Bachelor of Science degree. They are designed to provide students with the skills and aptitudes needed to compete successfully in the profession. The curricula are structured to enable students to enter and make significant contributions in corporate, government or research organizations.<\/p>

Economics:<\/strong><\/p>

The Economics Program leads to a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and is designed to analyze, synthesize and evaluate economic, social and business issues. \u00a0The curriculum outline maybe reviewed below.<\/p>

The Finance Program is designed to prepare students for careers in corporate finance, investment management, public finance, insurance and related areas. Instructional techniques include both theory and practical application. Students will have the opportunity to learn using the Bloomberg terminal platform and may be considered for participation in the Student Managed Investment Fund (SMIF).<\/p>

The minor in Finance requires eighteen (18) semester hours of courses in the Finance Program.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The Bachelor of Science in Economics provides rigorous training in applied economic analysis, with a focus on real-world market applications in community and infrastructure development. Students learn to apply economic techniques across public, private, and international sectors while mastering standard models to understand how economies function. Graduates develop the ability to analyze and evaluate economic, social, and business issues, preparing them for graduate study, professional careers, or entrepreneurship. The program also strengthens students\u2019 understanding of the U.S. market economy and key economic issues, including fiscal and monetary policy.<\/p>
