He has served as Assistant to the Dean of the School of Engineering and Technology, and as interim chairperson of architecture for one year. He has taught at all studio levels from first through fourth years, and has taught support courses in History, Theory, Urban Design, and Building Science. In the Fall of 2002 he led the Department&#8217;s Urban Studies Abroad Program, taking Fifth Year students to Rome.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Kloster has served as an ACSA Nominee to NAAB Visiting Teams, and participated in accreditation visits to Temple University and to Iowa State University. While at Hampton, he has been a member of many university committees, including Academic Personnel (Tenure and Promotion), and University Program Review, where he served as committee co-chair. He also served as principal author\/editor of the Hampton University APR for accreditation visits in 2000 and 2003. From 1998-2001 he was an officer of the Hampton Roads Chapter of the AIA, and from 2000-2001 was a member of the Board of Directors of the Virginia Society AIA. With AIA Hampton Roads he chaired the Committee on Regionalism, which held a series of events and a design charrette titled &#8220;Community or Commute: Designing the Regional Village.&#8221; These events focused on the design of light rail villages in the Hampton Roads area, and were funded in part by a grant from the American Architectural Foundation. She received a Bachelor in Environmental Design and a Master of Architecture professional degree from the University of Puerto Rico, and a doctoral degree in Architecture from the University of Michigan. She has taught at the University of Kansas and the Florida Agricultural &amp; Mechanical University. Prof. S\u00e1nchez is a licensed architect registered in Puerto Rico. Her research has focused on the integration of computer-based tools into architectural education and practice for design thinking, and the management of design information. She has worked developing models for mapping historical districts as graphic relational databases. She has investigated using adaptive kinetic systems as analogical vehicles to teach about digital modeling, complex systems, and sustainability. She teaches architectural design studio and theory, urban and community design theory, and representation courses dealing with traditional and new media.
