Dr. Daya Irene Taylor, Chairperson of Hampton University\u2019s Department of Architecture, has recently been selected as one of only five distinguished jurors by the Fort Monroe Authority to evaluate and select the next designer responsible for upgrades to the historic Fort Monroe site. This prestigious appointment positions Dr. Taylor among an elite group of professionals entrusted with shaping the future of one of the nation\u2019s most historically significant landmarks. Fort Monroe (known as \u201cFreedom\u2019s Fortress\u201d) stands as a symbol of resilience and emancipation, and the upcoming design upgrades will influence how generations to come experience its heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
