The file name is: HON-pic-7-scaled.jpg\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 1024px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 1024\/683;aspect-ratio:1.4992793575987737;width:475px;height:auto\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--50);padding-bottom:0;padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--40)\">Membership in the Honors College is a privilege.&nbsp; Prospective students must be serious about academics and learning, desire to be an active rather than a passive learner, have an intellectual curiosity that supersedes an obsession with grades, seek success rather than avoid failure, and have the courage to be a leader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--40);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--40)\">The Honors College is built on three pillars: Academics, Leadership, and Service.&nbsp; Academically, students must earn a 3.5 Cumulative Hampton University GPA to join the Honors College.&nbsp; Applications are accepted in the Spring semester of each academic year.&nbsp; As a member of the Honors College, students are required to maintain a 3.5 GPA and complete the following to graduate in the Honors College:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--50);font-size:32px\">Requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"padding-left:0;line-height:1.5\">24 honors credit hours<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--40);padding-left:0;line-height:1.5\">COM 323 Argumentation and Debate or PHI 210 Logic<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"padding-left:0;line-height:1.5\">PHI 304 Ethics<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"padding-left:0;line-height:1.5\">5 UNV Honors Seminars (UNV 200, 290, 300, 390, 400)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"padding-left:0;line-height:1.5\">Senior Capstone Research Project<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"padding-left:0;line-height:1.5\">Present at a research conference<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"padding-left:0;line-height:1.5\">Apply to at least one prestigious scholarship<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"padding-left:0;line-height:1.5\">Take the qualifying exam for graduate or professional school<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--40);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--40)\">Students in the Honors College are encouraged to expound on their leadership skills by participating in the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"padding-left:0;line-height:1.6\">Serve on one Honors College committee per academic year<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"padding-left:0;line-height:1.6\">Attend two Honors College Retreats per academic year<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--40);padding-bottom:0;padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--40)\">The Honors College prides itself on service.&nbsp; Students in the Honors College must complete the following to graduate with honors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"padding-left:0\">150 community service hours<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--40);padding-left:0\">Honors Societies &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/home.hamptonu.edu\/honors\/societies\/\">Societies &#8211; Freddye T. Davy Honors College<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"padding-left:0\">Scholarships \/ Internships &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/home.hamptonu.edu\/honors\/scholarships\/\">Scholarships &amp; Internships &#8211; Freddye T.
