Hampton University, a member of the Colonial Athletic Association, is seeking a full-time Assistant Director of Strategic Communications to publicize the University’s Division I athletics program.
Job Duties:
- Candidate must have experience and a strong knowledge of statistical software programs (Genius Live Stats) for in-game stats and live statistics.
- Experience with social media and website maintenance required.
- Cover assigned sports, including both men’s and women’s teams.
- Write press releases for assigned sports.
- Host media at athletic events.
- Develop positive relationships with the media, coaches, administration, and stakeholders.
- Assist as department’s liaison with Flo Sports television production.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Two years of experience in collegiate communications.
- Strong computer skills and related software capability.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to organize and supervise student interns.
- Availability to travel on weekends and holidays, as needed.
Requirements:
- Must have excellent written and verbal skills
- Demonstrate the ability to manage complex issues and relationships
- Experience at a CAA institution, conference, or professional sports organization preferred.
