Maintains and monitors activity relevant to the general ledger and verifies various business transactions. Analyzes data and reviews financial records while using Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Duties and Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Data entry into the general ledger<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain and file journal entries<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prepare month end journal entries<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monitor University utility bills for accuracy and timely payments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prepare, file, and ensure payment of monthly Admissions Tax and Sales and Use Tax<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Review and process interdepartmental charges<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Perform general accounts analysis and reconciliations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Review and reconcile gift reports and credit card transactions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Review and process daily bank deposit as received by Cashier\u2019s Office<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prepare financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop spreadsheets to assist management with analyzing internal and external information<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide accounting support to internal and external departments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide administrative support when necessary<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Other analysis and projects as required<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Other duties as assigned by the Chief Accountant, Associate Comptroller, and Assistant Vice President for Business Affairs<br>and Comptroller<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s degree in Accounting or related field from four-year college or university with a minimum of 2-3 years of experience<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must be able to work well with others in a fast-paced environment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Good communication skills<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be flexible to work additional hours upon request<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Staff Accountant reports to the General Accounting Supervisor.
