{"id":3004,"date":"2024-04-15T15:10:00","date_gmt":"2024-04-15T15:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/home.hamptonu.edu\/hr\/?p=3004"},"modified":"2024-06-04T14:11:39","modified_gmt":"2024-06-04T14:11:39","slug":"assistant-director-of-student-engagement-student-activities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/home.hamptonu.edu\/hr\/2024\/04\/15\/assistant-director-of-student-engagement-student-activities\/","title":{"rendered":"Assistant Director of Student Engagement- Student Activities"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Assistant Director for Student Engagement is energetic, flexible and provides leadership and supervision to Hampton University students. &nbsp;The Assist Director for Student Engagement serves as the operations and recreational specialist who supervises students during structured and unstructured evening programming and events.&nbsp; The Assistant Director works under the direction of the Director of Student Involvement and Leadership and is responsible for managing student activities and event clean-up in the Hampton University Student Center on weekdays, weekends and holidays.&nbsp; Areas of emphasis include the Student Center Fitness Center, bowling alley, aerobics room, game room, Pirate Pantry, and the movie room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Job Duties:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Serves as the Operations and recreational specialist:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Reports to the &nbsp;Director of Student Involvement and Leadership and others as directed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Manages the overall operations, maintenance, safety and cleanliness of the gym, bowling alley, movie room, Pirate Pantry, and game room.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assists the Director of Student Involvement and Leadership with on-site supervision of events and activities at night and on weekends.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Responsible for arranging, planning, marketing, and evaluating student center programs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Responsible for producing reports and conducting program evaluations for student center programming.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develops, implements, and supports a wide variety of both new and existing student activities both on and off campus.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assists with the management of all aspects of Pirate Pantry including stocking, budgeting, marketing and reporting.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assists the Director of Involvement and Leadership with evaluating the effectiveness of student organizations as they fulfill their mission and purpose.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assists the Director of Student Involvement and Leadership with organizing data and composing monthly, semester and yearly reports.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submits weekly maintenance reports for designated areas within the student center.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submits the monthly utilization and operations report for the Pirate Pantry.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minimum: Bachelor&#8217;s Degree (four year college or university); Desired: Sports Management, Higher Education, or related area preferred. Three years related experience in student activities, specific experience in leadership preferred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To fully meet job expectations, an individual must:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Utilizes Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Power Point) or appropriate alternative software to the extent required to effectively perform the essential functions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Communicates effectively using a variety of styles and techniques appropriate to the audience.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Interprets complex policies, rules, laws, or regulations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Analyzes and solves basic to advanced level matters.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Organizes work and assigned projects.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exhibits basic counseling, mediation and conflict-resolution skills.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Manages the Localist system for scheduled events, room setups and technology needs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<strong>To fully meet job expectations, an individual must have the ability to:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Works evenings and weekends.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Works independently with little supervision.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Balances multiple projects and unstructured tasks within deadlines.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Works under pressure while maintaining a professional demeanor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Works with all levels of students, employees and or third parties.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintains confidentiality regarding sensitive matters.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Acquires and applies new knowledge through personal development, research, on the job experience, training or education.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Models high standards of honesty, integrity, trust, and ethical behavior.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participates in campus duty rotation with other members of the Staff.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develops positive and mature working relationships with other members of the Hampton University community.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Takes part in campus wide activities, committees and forums.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintains regular and consistent attendance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Uses cognitive skills
