This is a grant-funded position. Continuation of the position is contingent upon the continuation of related grant funding.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nThe Academic Coordinator is a full time, 12 month employee who reports to the Program Director and performs the following duties:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Recruit eligible students into the Educational Talent Search program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Coordinate and implement targeted academic interventions, counseling services, and activities that assist eligible students in their adjustment to the middle and high school environment;<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Recruit and assign tutors and coordinate all training for the tutorial program; Evaluate monthly progress reports submitted by tutors, and review academic progress with tutees as warranted;<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Regularly monitor participants\u2019 academic progress, program attendance, and participation in project activities, and make appropriate interventions and referrals. Coordinate college tours;<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Maintain electronic records of all tutoring sessions and review feedback reports to ensure timely intervention as necessary;<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Make presentations to student groups and help students apply for admission and secure financial aid to four year universities and\/or community college, to include providing information on scholarships, grants, work study, loans, and other financial assistance programs;<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Advise students on financial aid policies and deadlines, effective study skills, time management strategies, and test-taking techniques;<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Supervise the Mentoring Program, and collaborate with the Program Director to maintain reports on students\u2019 semester and annual academic performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Attend all Educational Talent Search staff meetings and submit reports as required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Assist the Director with the administrative responsibilities required to effectively manage the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
QUALIFICATIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\u00b7 Master\u2019s Degree in guidance and counseling or a related discipline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 A minimum of one year of experience in counseling and administrative and supervisory experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills and demonstrated ability to work with students from low-income, first-generation college backgrounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Ability to perform multiple responsibilities simultaneously, to work in a self-directed environment, and to plan and organize on both a daily and long-term basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
