Harvey Library invites applications for the position of librarian within the reference department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The mission of the University Libraries, which include the William R. and Norma B. Harvey Library, the architecture department library, and the music department library, is to support the instructional, research, and service needs of the Hampton University community. This is achieved through access and delivery of information services and resources that are essential to academic and teaching excellence, leadership, and lifelong learning.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Duties and Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Provide in-depth reference services to users in person, and virtually.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conduct individual and group information literacy sessions to educate users on effective research strategies and resources.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collaborate with faculty to integrate library resources into the curriculum.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Manage the library\u2019s government documents collection, including federal, state, and local publications.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide expert reference and research assistance related to government publications.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stay informed about changes in government publishing and access policies and adapt library services accordingly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assist in the assessment and evaluation of government documents.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Serve as subject liaison to assigned areas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participate in library committees, working groups, and meetings as required.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Other duties as required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>An ALA-accredited Master\u2019s degree in library science (MLS) or equivalent is <strong>required <\/strong>for this position.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Two or more years\u2019 experience working in library public services.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong knowledge of research methods and information resources in various disciplines.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience in conducting information literacy workshops.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><strong><br><\/strong>Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position&nbsp;is filled.&nbsp; Applicants should submit a <strong>Hampton University Application for Employment for faculty <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/home.hamptonu.edu\/hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/75\/2023\/11\/Faculty-App.pdf\"><strong>https:\/\/home.hamptonu.edu\/hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/75\/2023\/11\/Faculty-App.pdf<\/strong><\/a><strong> , a cover letter; and curriculum vitae<\/strong>.&nbsp; Applications may be submitted electronically to&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:tina.rollins@hamptonu.edu\">tina.rollins@hamptonu.edu<\/a>.&nbsp; <strong>Please include the subject line: Librarian Application Package.<\/strong> *Hampton University is an Equal Opportunity Employer.<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Description The Hampton University William R. and Norma B.
