{"id":3674,"date":"2024-09-25T17:25:04","date_gmt":"2024-09-25T17:25:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/home.hamptonu.edu\/hr\/?p=3674"},"modified":"2025-06-12T20:56:11","modified_gmt":"2025-06-12T20:56:11","slug":"assistant-professor-department-of-communicative-sciences","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/home.hamptonu.edu\/hr\/2024\/09\/25\/assistant-professor-department-of-communicative-sciences\/","title":{"rendered":"Assistant Professor &#8211; Department of Communicative Sciences"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Description<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Hampton University Department of Communicative Sciences and Disorders invites nominations and applications for a 9\u2013month tenure track of Speech-Language Pathology, at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning August 15, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Founded in 1868, Hampton University is a leading historically black university (HBCU) located on the Virginia Peninsula in the City of Hampton.&nbsp;It is a privately endowed, co-educational, nonsectarian institution.&nbsp; The Department of Communicative Sciences and Disorders, housed in the School of Science offers the Bachelors\u2019 degree in communicative sciences and disorders and the Master\u2019s degree in speech-language pathology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Duties and Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This 9-month faculty position requires providing clinical instruction to graduate and undergraduate students, teaching didactic courses, and academic advisement. Interest in clinic administration is desired. Serve as graduate coordinator for Commitment to student development is required. Service to the university and community is expected. Participation in research and other scholarly activities is strongly encouraged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Holds terminal academic doctorate (Ph.D., Ed.D., D.Sc.) in a discipline appropriate for teaching responsibilities from a regionally accredited institution. Eligibility for Virginia licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Preferred<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in one of the following autism, aphasia, child language and dysphasia. Experience in teaching and\/or research is preferred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Candidates with a strong foundation in research, publishing, and teaching excellence in communication sciences and disorders will receive special consideration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.&nbsp;Applicants should submit a Hampton University Application for Employment for faculty, a letter outlining the candidate&#8217;s commitment to teaching, professional and scholarly work; a curriculum vitae, and three letters of recommendation on company letterhead.
