Job Duties:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\u00b7 Collaborate with the Program Director to lead the Welding Technology programs and courses offered by the college and serve as primary lead for Hampton University Workforce Development Welding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Develop, implement, and deliver new programs that meet industry needs across all areas of instruction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Teach the equivalent of 15-20 contact hours per semester, across curriculum, continuing education, and industry training courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Build and maintain strong relationships with industry partners in the local and regional field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Prepare, maintain, and distribute for all scheduled courses current course outlines and syllabi that support accreditation standards as described in the current revised curriculum document.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Prepare for and meet classes as assigned, promptly evaluate student progress within one week and maintain a safe learning environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Demonstrate concern for student retention by employing best practice strategies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Serve as academic adviser for an assigned caseload of students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Recruit for department\/curriculum as assigned by the supervisor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Maintain department\/curriculum equipment, supplies, and materials, and library and support resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Assist in registration and orientation as requested by the Executive Director.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Work the required 40 hours per week and post and hold five (5) office hours per week when classes start.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\u00b7 Demonstrated competencies in teaching specific welding and welding-related courses and combination of experience, education, and certifications, OR<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 AWS certifications and 5 years work-related experience as a welder<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Preferred Qualifications:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Associate’s degree in a welding-related field, OR<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Bachelor’s degree in the teaching discipline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\u00b7 Participate in scheduled and called departmental, faculty, staff meetings and other College activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Keep supervisor informed of matters pertaining to the curriculum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Follow policies stated in the policies and procedures manual as it relates to instructor responsibilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Obtain Canvas Level training as well as maintain a Canvas course site for each curriculum course taught during the semester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Serve on College committees as assigned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Plan and participate in articulation activities with public schools and other community agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Submit records and forms in a timely fashion as required in the policy and procedures manual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Encourage and support College activities, policies, procedures, and philosophies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Actively participate in professional organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Promote and support other Workforce Development programs as needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
