This role is responsible for managing the Chair\u2019s calendar, coordinating department meetings and events, handling front desk operations, and serving as a key point of contact for students, faculty, and external visitors. The assistant ensures smooth daily operations by performing a range of tasks including scheduling, minute-taking, correspondence, and liaising with vendors and service providers. The position plays a vital role in maintaining organization and communication within the department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>**The start date for this position is August 1, 2025, or after.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Job Duties:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Maintains the Department Chair\u2019s calendar, including scheduling meetings, presentations, and tracking important deadlines.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Performs general clerical tasks such as typing, copying, filing, retrieving documents, and handling incoming and outgoing mail.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assists in the coordination and preparation of departmental meetings, school events, and committee sessions organized by the Department of Business Administration.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Records and prepares meeting minutes for the Department of Business Administration.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Manages front desk operations, including answering telephone calls and welcoming visitors to the reception area.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Schedules appointments between students and faculty for academic advisement or to address academic concerns.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provides general information and directs faculty inquiries to appropriate resources.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collects, organizes, and distributes department-related communications and materials.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Coordinates with repair personnel, vendors, delivery staff, and equipment service providers as needed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Manage the logistics for the Leadership Application Program (LAP).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Perform other related duties as assigned by the Department Chair.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Associate\u2019s degree in business<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrated initiative and a strong sense of ownership over assigned tasks and projects.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must be able to work on-site at Hampton University.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to compose professional emails and brief memos using proper grammar and tone.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Willingness to perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Administrative Assistant for the Department of Business Administration provides comprehensive clerical and administrative support to the Department Chair and faculty.
