The Department of Visual and Performing Arts at Hampton University houses programs in Dance, Theatre, and Art seeks a dynamic faculty member to join our team beginning Fall 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Duties and Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Teach undergraduate courses in Dance, including foundational ballet, modern, and contemporary technique, choreography, dance theory, dance history, and performance practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Contribute to the scholarly and artistic advancement of the department, school, and university through an active program of creative practice, research, and professional activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seek external support through grants and collaborations; participate in service activities to the department and university, including committee work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Advise students and maintain regular office hours to support student success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Contribute to curriculum development, program assessment, and student mentorship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additional duties as assigned by the department chair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Terminal degree in Dance or a closely related field; or significant professional and scholarly credentials appropriate to the rank being considered (MFA or Ph.D. or equivalent strongly preferred).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Evidence of effective teaching at the college\/university level and demonstrated commitment to student learning and success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A professional record or demonstrated potential in creative\/dance practice, scholarly work, and\/or performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ability to contribute to a diverse and inclusive academic environment and to collaborate with colleagues across departments and disciplines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
