George (JTG) School of Business invites nominations and applications for Assistant\/Associate Professor of Economics with appointments beginning August 2026. Tenure Track positions are offered at the discretion of the University and are based on the experience and credentials of the candidate. Prior tenure appointments are not transferable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Founded in 1868, Hampton University is a leading historically black university (HBCU) located on the Virginia Peninsula in the City of Hampton. Faculty members are dedicated to preparing students to become industry ready professionals with impeccable character and a strong work ethic.&nbsp; Please consider joining us!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a><\/a><strong>Job Duties<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Teach undergraduate and graduateeconomics courses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide instruction based on course description, and outlines, and course description and meet classes as scheduled and maintain accurate academic records<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assess student performance and remain current with content, technology, and teaching and learning strategies in the discipline<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collaborate with colleagues to review and revise curriculum, course development, teaching materials and teaching methods to promote student success and lifelong learning<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Engage in high-quality research and grant writing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Provide service to the university and attend meetings\/events as required by the University, the School, and the Department<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Serve and function as an academic advisor<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Work closely with the School administration to create opportunities with local and national entities to support program goals and engage in fundraising<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain academic standards and professional ethics<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify and implement recruitment strategies to increase enrollment in the department<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Perform other duties as assigned by the Chair and the Dean of the School of Business<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a><\/a><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A doctoral degree in Economics or related field with at least 18 graduate credit hours. Experience teaching at the university level is preferred. &nbsp;ABD candidates who will not hold their doctorate degree by August 2026 will not be considered at the Assistant Professor level. Candidates with master\u2019s degrees and 18 credit hours in the respective fields will be considered with prior teaching and\/or professional experience. <strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>Candidates must be available to work<strong> in person<\/strong> at our main campus location in Hampton VA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a><\/a><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
