Greetings Hampton University Faculty & Staff,
As the semester gets underway, we wish to remind you about the free tutoring services available to all undergraduate students through our academic partnership with Knack – a leading student success platform, transforming tutoring to prepare students for success in the classroom and 21st-century workplace.
How Knack works: the Knack HU Faculty & Staff page
Essentially, the platform operates similar to Uber, allowing students to book 1-on-1 and group tutoring services on-demand. Knack Tutors are verified high-achieving Hampton students who have previously aced the courses they offer assistance in. Tutoring is free for all undergraduate students and sessions can take place in-person (preferred) or online. Currently, peer tutoring is available in over 200 Hampton courses, and we are continuing to expand our coverage each semester. We have included a flyer that you are invited to distribute or post as you wish.
Students also now have access to on-demand virtual tutoring from Knack’s professional tutor network as a supplement to peer tutoring. This option is not a replacement for peer tutoring; it is simply a means of ensuring that all students have access to tutoring when they need it, particularly in courses not covered by peer tutors and in courses in which tutor demand exceeds tutor supply. To continue expanding the reach of our tutoring program, we could use the HU faculty’s help with recommending peer tutors:
We are continually recruiting qualified students to sign up as peer tutors on the platform. Please direct your students who’ve received an A- or better to hampton.joinknack.com where they can create a verified tutoring profile and begin helping students. You can also recommend students to tutor by completing our brief Knack Tutor Professor Recommendation Form. Upon receiving the form, we will help interested students create a Knack Tutor Account and begin tutoring.
