{"id":36,"date":"2024-02-17T08:58:05","date_gmt":"2024-02-17T13:58:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/home.hamptonu.edu\/iac\/?page_id=36"},"modified":"2024-10-09T21:32:07","modified_gmt":"2024-10-10T01:32:07","slug":"curriculum","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/home.hamptonu.edu\/iac\/curriculum\/","title":{"rendered":"Curriculum"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>Information Assurance and Cyber Security Center<\/strong>\u00a0at Hampton University (IAC@HU), housed within\u00a0the Department of Computer Science\u00a0in the School of Science, is a multidisciplinary center devoted to Information Assurance and Cyber Security Education, Research, and Training. The center provides program and curriculum development, workshops, multidisciplinary research opportunities, outreach to other HBCU\/MI\u2019s and Community Colleges, and access to cyber security research resources. Through the departmental computer literacy program, which services students across disciplines at Hampton University, the IAC@HU provides cyber security awareness throughout the University. As part of the Center, the Information Assurance and Cyber Security lab, located in the Wilmar Harper Horne Science &amp; Technology Hall, provides an isolated networked computer environment suitable for information assurance and cyber security education, research, and training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The IAC@HU is designated as a&nbsp;<strong>National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education (CAE\/CDE)<\/strong>&nbsp;by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and National Security Agency (NSA) through 2021 for the following majors offered within the Department of Computer Science: Computer Science (CSC), Computer Information Systems (CIS), and newly added Cyber Security \u2013 Computer Science track (CYS) as of Spring 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the new process of the<strong>&nbsp;National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (CAE-C)<\/strong>, the validated Program of Study is the BS in Cyber Security &#8211; Computer Science Track.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Goals<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The goals of the IAC@HU include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Providing students with educational opportunities in Information Assurance and Cyber Security.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Providing an Information Assurance and Cyber Security research environment for faculty, staff, and students.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Providing Information Assurance and Cyber Security resources not only within the University, but also to the local community, including law enforcement, government, business, and the public.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Providing opportunities for enriching information assurance and cyber security education across the curriculum.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Center&#8217;s Point of Contact<\/strong>:&nbsp;<strong>Dr. Chutima Boonthum-Denecke<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0Information Assurance and Cyber Security Center\u00a0at Hampton University (IAC@HU), housed within\u00a0the Department of Computer Science\u00a0in the School of Science, is a multidisciplinary center devoted to Information Assurance and Cyber Security Education, Research, and Training.
