Hampton University Graduate Education and Training Scholarships in Information Assurance (HU GETS-IA) Program<\/h2>\n

Program Description<\/h3>\n

Hampton University (HU) is a Historically Black College and University (HBCU) located in Hampton, Virginia that houses an Information Assurance and Cyber Security Center (IAC@HU) that is designated as a Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education (CAE\/IAE) by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and National Security Agency (NSA).<\/p>\n


Hampton University has received the National Science Foundation (NSF) CyberCorps: Scholarship for Service (SFS) grant (January 2013 and renewal until 2023) that will provide support for students to study in the Master of Science in Information Assurance (MS in IA) program. Students who choose to major in the MS in IA program at Hampton University may apply this scholarship.\u00a0\u00a0With the recently renewal award, we now have 3 categories of scholar: (1) Undergraduate 2-year, (2) Undergraduate 3-year (1-year undergraduate and 2-year graduate), and Graduate (2-year) programs.<\/p>\n

The CyberCorps: SFS program is offered by the NSF and co-sponsored by the DHS. Interested Parties may apply through the department of Computer Science (CSC) and must participate in the CyberCorps: SFS program.<\/p>\n

Benefits of the CyberCorps: Scholarship for Service<\/h3>\n

The scholarship program will support undergraduate students toward the completion of their final year of undergraduate study and two years of the MS in IA program and graduate students for two years of the MS in IA program. Undergraduate students will receive fully paid tuition and fees and a stipend of $25,000 per year. Graduate students will have their tuition and fees paid and receive a stipend of $34,000 per year. Meanwhile, each supported student will be awarded funds to cover health insurance (up to $4,000 per year), books (up to $3,000 per year), and professional development costs (such as travel to the NSF CyberCorps: SFS Job Fair and Symposium, research conferences and cybersecurity skills development, up to $4,000 per year).\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

  • Junior or rising junior in majors\u00a0(completed\u00a0 CSC 252 and have 2-year remain for their BS degree) offered in the Department of Computer Science at Hampton University<\/li>\n
  • minimum 3.3 GPA<\/li>\n
  • demonstrate advanced programming skill and cyber security (complete or currently taking\u00a0 at least one cyber security course)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n

  • Senior or rising seniors in majors\u00a0the Department of Computer Science at Hampton University (expected BS degree within one year)<\/li>\n
  • minimum 3.3 GPA<\/li>\n
  • demonstrate advanced programming skill and IA knowledge (complete at least one cyber security course)<\/li>\n
  • demonstrate the ability to maintain 3.5 GPA when continue going to MS program<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n

  • Senior in IA, CSC, CIS, or related computing degree (or students hold a BS in IA, CSC, CIS, or related computing degree) from an ABET accredited institution<\/li>\n

  • minimum 3.3 GPA in BS program<\/li>\n

  • complete their 20 hours\/week research with assigned research advisor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
