Center for Public Policy

The Hampton University Center for Public Policy was established by visionary President, Dr. William R. Harvey, who has guided and led Hampton University to its current prominence in Higher Education and in the United States. Dr. Harvey’s vision was to create the Center for Public Policy to help facilitate a connection for students between classroom theory and practical application in the real-world. Moving forward into the 21st century and beyond, Dr. Harvey and his brain trust are meeting the emerging needs of the global community by expanding into a research focused institution. The Center for Public Policy is poised to meet the challenge by contributing publications, speakers, forums and new age social media engagement that advance the current and future ideas and trends in the public policy arena.

At its inception in 2008, leading the charge was former United States Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary, Alphonso Jackson. A nationally known policy expert, Mr. Jackson was tasked with laying the foundation and advancing theory into policy as the first Director of the Center.

The Center for Public Policy is a place where policy matters. We invite national and global leaders to visit Hampton University to help foster ideas and shape policy relevant to today’s national and global environment.
