Harvey, who has guided and led Hampton University to its current prominence in Higher Education and in the United States. Dr. Harvey&#8217;s vision was to create the\u00a0<em>Center for Public Policy<\/em>\u00a0to help facilitate a connection for students between classroom theory and practical application in the real-world. Moving forward into the 21st century and beyond, Dr. Harvey and his brain trust are meeting the emerging needs of the global community by expanding into a research focused institution. The\u00a0<em>Center for Public Policy\u00a0<\/em>is poised to meet the challenge by contributing publications, speakers, forums and new age social media engagement that advance the current and future ideas and trends in the public policy arena.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>At its inception in 2008, leading the charge was former United States Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary, Alphonso Jackson. A nationally known policy expert, Mr. Jackson was tasked with laying the foundation and advancing theory into policy as the first Director of the Center.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>The\u00a0<em>Center for Public Policy<\/em>\u00a0is a place\u00a0<em>where policy matters<\/em>.
