George Frederic Handel\u2019s timeless oratorio with chorus and orchestra, Messiah, was composed in 1741. The scriptural text compiled by Charles Jennens from the King James Bible. This performance is a collaboration of the Director of University Choirs, Mr. Omar Dickenson and Director of the HU Chamber Orchestra, Mr. Jerry A. Bracey. Featuring guest soloists include Dr. Shelia J. Maye, soprano; Lenora Wesley, mezzo-soprano; Larry Hylton, Tenor and John Fulton, baritone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fiesta del Sol includes traditional music and dances from Cuba, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Jamaica and Mexico, celebrating the folklore, myths, legends and cultures from the Caribbean and Latino America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has played with some great local groups as well\u2014The DeAnza Daddios, The LyraTones, The Johnny Lampson Band, Tuesday Night Live, The Joe Ferrari Big Band, andThe Swing Solution Big Band.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They have competed at the mobile Jazz Festival and performed for the Charlottesville Film Festival. Since the 1920s, this ensemble has been recognized for its performances locally and nationally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bobby BlackHat Band, Friday, April 13, 2018 7:30 p.m. \u2013 9:00 p.m.<\/strong> Bobby “BlackHat” Walters, recording artist, harmonica player, vocalist, songwriter and actor hails from Cleveland, Ohio and has been playing harp for over 40 years. Bobby is a retired U.S. Coast Guard Commander with 27 years of distinguished service which included serving as Military Aide to the President and being awarded the Coast Guard Medal for Heroism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
