Dr. Vera C. Campbell joined the faculty at the Hampton University School of Pharmacy in 2005 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. As Associate Professor, Dr. Campbell serves or has served as Chair of the following committees: Assessment; Curriculum; Scholarship, Awards, and Commencement; White Coat\/Professional Awareness and Interview Days; and Academic Technology and Web. She is also the Chair of the University Program Review Committee and a member of the University TracDat Oversight Committee and Task Force Two: Academic Programs Committee. In 2012, she was promoted to Assistant Dean for Assessment. As Assistant Dean, she serves as Chair of the Assessment Committee; implements innovative methodologies for assessment of student learning outcomes; provides oversight for all programmatic and curricular assessment; oversees the implementation of the School’s evaluation plan; and establishes and maintains a culture of assessment in the School.<\/p>

Dr. Campbell has taught and coordinated several courses, Biology I (BIO 101), Anatomy and Applied Physiology (PHA 321), Pharmaceutical Care I (PHA 301), Pharmaceutical Care III (PHA 401), Drug and Disease State Management II (PHA 482), and Drug and Disease State Management VIII (PHA 588). Dr. Campbell’s research interest is in the area of drug abuse and she has a keen interest in the co-abuse of alcohol and nicotine as well as opioid analgesics. Based on her research interest, she developed and teaches an elective course, Drugs of Abuse (PHA 582). Dr. Campbell is also interested in researching ways to improve student learning. In 2012, she was awarded a Hampton University Research Grant entitled, “Using a Calculations Reinforcement Approach to Improve NAPLEX Area 2 Sub-Scores in Pharmacy Students.” Dr. Campbell hopes to improve the ability of pharmacy students to perform pharmaceutical calculations with this grant. Her research is published in peer reviewed journals and she has presented at national and international scientific meetings.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
