class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The Department of Computer Science offers coursework leading to the Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, in Computer Information Systems, and in Cyber Security \u2013 Computer Science Track. These programs are designed for students who plan to pursue in-depth training in one or more software application areas for entering the workforce. In addition, the Department prepares students for further graduate education in computer and information sciences. Coursework leading to the Master of Science degrees in Computer Science and in Cyber Security is provided. The Department is located in the Wilmar Harper Horne Science &amp; Technology Hall and has state-of-the-art computer resources, and an enviable record of placing its students in positions of employment or in graduate school. The Department has a freshman mentoring program, peer-tutoring program, and one on one curriculum advisement to ensure successful matriculation at Hampton University. In addition, the Department of Computer Science has a 98% placement rate (full-time employment and\/or graduate school acceptance for graduating seniors.<\/p>\n<h2>Degree Programs<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Science (CSC)<\/li>\n<li>Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Information Systems (CIS)<\/li>\n<li>Bachelor of Science degrees in Cyber Security \u2013 Computer Science Track (CYS)<\/li>\n<li>Master of Science degree in Computer Science<\/li>\n<li>Master of Science degree in Cyber Security (Previously MS in Information Assurance)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These students are actively sought by business and government agencies. Major industry, government agencies, and graduate schools also actively seek these students. The Department has an enviable record of placing its graduates in positions of employment or in graduate school.<\/p>\n<h2>The Information Assurance and Cyber Security Center<\/h2>\n<p>The Department of Computer Science also houses the <a href=\"https:\/\/home.hamptonu.edu\/science\/information-assurance-and-cyber-security\/\">Information Assurance and Cyber Security Center<\/a> at Hampton University (IAC@HU), which is a multidisciplinary center devoted to Information Assurance and Cyber Security Education, Research, and Training. The center provides program and curriculum development, workshops, multidisciplinary research opportunities, outreach to other HBCU\/MI\u2019s and Community Colleges, and access to cyber security research resources. Through the departmental computer literacy program, which services students across disciplines at Hampton University, the IAC@HU provides cyber security awareness throughout the University. As part of the Center, the Information Assurance and Cyber Security lab, located in the Wilmar Harper Horne Science &amp; Technology Hall, provides an isolated networked computer environment suitable for information assurance and cyber security education, research, and training.
