If needing to contact the program\/institution directly, please call 757-727-5260 or email&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:elizabeth.locke@hamptonu.edu\">Elizabeth.Locke@hamptonu.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Licensure Disclosure Statement for the Department of Physical Therapy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Doctor of Physical Therapy Program is housed within the Hampton University School of Science and is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).\u00a0 The program meets educational requirements for physical therapist licensure in 50 U.S. states including the Commonwealth of Virginia; the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and U.S. Virgin Islands. Each jurisdiction requires proof of graduation from a CAPTE-accredited physical therapist education program and a passing score on the National Physical Therapy Examination.\u00a0 Information about the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT) Jurisprudence Assessment Module as a jurisdictional requirement for physical therapist licensure in Alabama, California, Georgia, Hawaii, Kansas, Maryland, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Ohio, Oregon, and Texas is available at the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy website located at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fsbpt.org\/Our-Services\/Jurisprudence-Assessment-Module-JAM-Services\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.fsbpt.org\/Our-Services\/Jurisprudence-Assessment-Module-JAM-Services<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Physical Therapy Compact is an Agreement between member jurisdictions that serves to improve access to physical therapy services through increased mobility to practice physical therapy across multiple jurisdictions. As of May 20, 2026, the Physical Therapy Compact includes 37 active member jurisdictions that are accepting and issuing compact privileges. These member jurisdictions are Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, District of Columbia, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia and Wisconsin. Three (3) jurisdictions have enacted Physical Therapy Compact legislation:\u00a0 Connecticut, Maine, and Rhode Island. Three (3) jurisdictions have introduced Physical Therapy Compact legislation: Illinois, Massachusetts, and Michigan. Ten (10) non-member jurisdictions without introduced Physical Therapy Compact legislation are California, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Minnesota, New Mexico, New York, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Wyoming.
