The DPT Program at Hampton University participates in the Physical Therapist Centralized Application Service, known as PTCAS.  Applicants must apply online using the PTCAS application.  The DPT program application deadline is January 15th<\/sup> annually.   To learn more about the PTCAS application process, please visit the PTCAS web site at www.ptcas.org.  The Department of Physical Therapy Admissions Committee selects applicants for admission.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A complete physical therapy application package must include the following:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. PTCAS application submitted\u00a0www.ptcas.org<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Graduate College application<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Graduate College application fee:\u00a0 $50 paid online or money order made payable to Hampton University<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Official transcripts from all colleges\/universities attended.Please note that all application materials must be uploaded into PTCAS and should not be sent to the Department of Physical Therapy or the Graduate College.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    The Department of Physical Therapy Virtual Interest Meetings are scheduled at 6 PM on the third Wednesday of each month during June to February.\u00a0 Please register\u00a0HERE<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Prerequisite and admissions criteria are as follows:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    1. Bachelor\u2019s Degree.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Completion of the following courses or their equivalent with a grade of C or higher:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Human Physiology w\/lab<\/td>3 hrs<\/td><\/tr>
      Introduction to Statistics<\/td>3 hrs<\/td><\/tr>
      General Psychology<\/td>3 hrs<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
        \n
      1. A minimum of 40 hours of volunteer or work experience in physical therapy (hospital, clinic etc.) with documentation signed by a licensed physical therapist.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2. A 3.0 cumulative GPA<\/strong> of all coursework with a minimum GPA of 2.8<\/strong> for prerequisite courses;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      3. A knowledge of the profession as evidenced by a personal statement detailing the reasons for professional choice;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      4. Two letters of recommendation addressing the applicant\u2019s moral character and suitability for a physical therapy career, one letter must be written by a licensed physical therapist;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      5. All science prerequisites must have been completed within the last eight (8) years.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        Please Note:<\/strong> Prerequisite courses in progress must be completed by June 30th prior to fall semester enrollment. An updated transcript should be sent to PTCAS. Anatomy and physiology can be taken as a combined course only if the two part sequence is completed (4 credits and lab for each). The other option is separate courses (4 credits plus lab for Human Anatomy and 3 credits no lab for Human Physiology). <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
