Rice, Admissions Coordinator<br>(<a href=\"mailto:kristin.rice@hamptonu.edu\">kristin.rice@hamptonu.edu<\/a>)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Prerequisite and admissions criteria are as follows:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s Degree.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Completion of the following courses or their equivalent with a grade of C or higher:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><thead><tr><th>Course<\/th><th>Hours<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td>General Biology I w\/lab<\/td><td>4 hrs<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>General Chemistry I w\/lab<\/td><td>4 hrs<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>General Chemistry II w\/lab<\/td><td>4 hrs<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>General Physics I w\/lab<\/td><td>4-5 hrs<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>General Physics II w\/lab<\/td><td>4-5 hrs<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Human Anatomy w\/lab<\/td><td>4 hrs<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Human Physiology w\/lab<\/td><td>3 hrs<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Introduction to Statistics<\/td><td>3 hrs<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>General Psychology<\/td><td>3 hrs<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"3\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A minimum of 40 hours of volunteer or work experience in physical therapy (hospital, clinic etc.) with documentation signed by a licensed physical therapist.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A&nbsp;<strong>3.0 cumulative GPA<\/strong>&nbsp;of all coursework with a&nbsp;<strong>minimum GPA of 2.8<\/strong>&nbsp;for prerequisite courses;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A knowledge of the profession as evidenced by a personal statement detailing the reasons for professional choice;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Two letters of recommendation addressing the applicant\u2019s moral character and suitability for a physical therapy career, one letter must be written by a licensed physical therapist;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All science prerequisites must have been completed within the last eight (8) years.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Please Note:<\/strong>&nbsp;Prerequisite courses in progress must be completed by June 30th prior to fall semester enrollment. An updated transcript should be sent to PTCAS. Anatomy and physiology can be taken as a combined course only if the two part sequence is completed (4 credits and lab for each).
