{"id":14568,"date":"2026-05-15T13:47:31","date_gmt":"2026-05-15T17:47:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/home.hamptonu.edu\/science\/?page_id=14568"},"modified":"2026-05-21T11:37:23","modified_gmt":"2026-05-21T15:37:23","slug":"dpt-financial-aid","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/home.hamptonu.edu\/science\/physical-therapy\/dpt-financial-aid\/","title":{"rendered":"Department of Physical Therapy Financial Aid"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Graduate Student Loans<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As graduate students, physical therapy students are not eligible for federal grants, such as, Pell, SEOG, ACG, National Smart, nor assistance via Federal Perkins Loan Program, or the Federal Work-Study Program. A graduate student, if otherwise eligible, may receive federal student loans up to $20,500 per academic year. A graduate student may also borrow funds through the Graduate PLUS Loan program. Note that the Graduate PLUS Program is a credit-based program, which requires that the student successfully pass a credit check before funds can be administered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the loan assistance from both programs (if otherwise eligible) cannot exceed the total cost of education minus other forms of aid received. To apply for federal loans, students must complete (each January) the Free Application for Student Aid (i.e. FAFSA) at: www.fafsa.ed.gov. All students must also electronically sign the FAFSA, by using their personal identification number (i.e. PIN). To receive a PIN, apply at:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/help-center\/answers\/article\/what-happened-to-federal-student-aid-pin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>www.PIN.ed.gov<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please contact the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships should you have additional questions about the financial aid process, including, applicable deadline dates at:&nbsp;<strong>757-727-5635<\/strong>&nbsp;or&nbsp;<strong>5332<\/strong>&nbsp;or toll-free at 1-800-624-3341. Please also the financial aid office website: www.hamptonu.edu, click on Departments\/Offices, then, select Financial Aid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Lilly Foundation Scholarship For Physical Therapy Students<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This scholarship is given to qualified physical therapy students each year. Criteria and application procedures will be provided to interested students by the Department of Physical Therapy.
