This program is offered by Hampton University (HU) in collaboration with the National Science Foundation and helps interested and eligible students to become highly qualified STEM teachers and pursue their teaching careers.<\/p><p>The HU Noyce Teacher program provides scholarships, stipends, and academic programs for undergraduate STEM majors and post-baccalaureate students holding STEM degrees who are committed to teaching after graduation from the program.<\/p><p>As an undergraduate biology or mathematics major and a Noyce Teacher Scholarship recipient, you can receive scholarship funding for up to a maximum of three years that includes:<\/p><ul><li>$2,700 stipend for participating in an internship program in the summer between your freshman and sophomore year and the sophomore and junior year;<\/li><li><strong>Scholarship funding that can cover up to the entire cost of attendance at HU annually during your junior year, senior year, and one year of graduate study!<\/strong><\/li><\/ul><p><a class=\"bfb\" href=\"https:\/\/home.hamptonu.edu\/admissions\/tuition-fees-and-statistics\/\">Estimated Cost of Attendance at HU<\/a><\/p><p>In addition, this program also supports STEM professionals who enroll in the Master of Arts in Teaching degree programs by providing academic courses, professional development, and a $3,000 annual scholarship while they are preparing to or fulfilling their teaching requirement.<\/p><div class=\"note\"><div>For each year the student receives the scholarship funds, the student is required to teach for two years in a high-need school district as defined in section 201 of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S.C. 1021). Service must be completed within 8 years after graduation from the program for which the scholarship was awarded. Otherwise, the funds must be repaid.<\/div><\/div><h2>HU Noyce Teacher Scholarship Eligibility<\/h2><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9524\" src=\"https:\/\/home.hamptonu.edu\/science\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/47\/2024\/09\/co_pis-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p><div class=\"imgr\"><p><strong style=\"font-style: inherit; font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Oxygen-Sans, Ubuntu, Cantarell, 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif;\">Eligible applicants must be full-time Hampton University students who:<\/strong><\/p><\/div><ul><li>Major in mathematics or biology and are finishing their sophomore year;<\/li><li>Have a strong record of academic progress and are interested in becoming STEM teachers;<\/li><li>Meet the admission requirements for the Hampton University College of Education teacher education program;<\/li><li>Are in financial need (as determined by the HU Office of Financial Aid);<\/li><li>Are U.S. citizens or nationals, or permanent resident aliens.<\/li><\/ul><p>If you are interested in applying,\u00a0contact Dr. Isi Ero-Tolliver.<\/p><p><strong>HU Noyce Teacher Scholarship recipients are expected to:<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>Maintain a good standing in the program;<\/li><li>Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5;<\/li><li>Be able to start teacher certification program courses upon the receipt of the award and meet the requirements for Virginia teacher license by the end of the program;<\/li><li>Complete the teaching requirement of the scholarship (otherwise the funds must be repaid).<\/li><\/ul><p>The Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship is a prestigious and nationally recognized award.<\/p><p>Additional information about the Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program is available by visiting <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nsfnoyce.org\">nsfnoyce.org<\/a>.<\/p><p>More information is also available by downloading the <a href=\"https:\/\/home.hamptonu.edu\/app\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/81\/2025\/05\/Noyce-Brochure.pdf\">NOYCE Program Brochure (PDF)<\/a>.<\/p><div><p>This material is based upon work supported by the National Science Foundation under Grant No. 0934715.
