This internship is designed to highlight the profession of teaching and the foundations of science education. Selection for the summer internship program is based on a GPA of 2.5. Each participant receives a $2,700 stipend and is given the opportunity to get an early experience in STEM education.<\/p><p>Admission requirements for the internship are similar to the admission requirements for the Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program.<\/p><p><a class=\"bfb\" href=\"https:\/\/home.hamptonu.edu\/practice\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/78\/2025\/05\/Noyce_Summer_Internship_Application_rev20111017_20170322153305.pdf\">Noyce Summer Internship Application (PDF)<\/a><\/p><h2>Application to the <br \/>HU Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program<\/h2><p>Prospective Noyce Teacher scholarship recipients must meet the admission requirements for the Hampton University College of Education teacher education program. The applicants must:<\/p><ul><li>Have at least 45 hours of course work,<\/li><li>Earn a grade of &#8220;C&#8221; or better in ENG 101, ENG 102, COM 103, MAT 109 (or higher), and MAT 110 (or higher),<\/li><li>Possess an overall GPA of at least 2.5 in all courses,<\/li><li>Achieve a passing score on PRAXIS I (math, reading, and writing) or on SAT or ACT,<\/li><li>Submit two letters of recommendations (outside the Education Department),<\/li><li>Submit an essay (3 stapled copies) &#8211; &#8220;Why I Want To Teach&#8221;.<\/li><\/ul><p>Begin the Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program Application<\/p><h2>Selection Process<\/h2><p>Noyce scholarship selection is based on academic merit with consideration of financial need. Selection is based in part on the student&#8217;s participation in the summer internship and symposia, major\/area of interest, and GPA. The Hampton University Office of Financial Aid will provide insight on the financial need of applicants in the event that two or more applicants have the same credentials but only one scholarship can be awarded.
