Dr. Thomas Zurbuchen, associate administrator of NASA\u2019s Science Mission Directorate, visited NASA\u2019s Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia, Thursday, Sept. 29<\/span>th<\/sup>, 2022. Dr. Zurbuchen and Langley Center Director Clayton Turner traveled to Hampton University to learn about research at the Center for Atmospheric Sciences and meet with school President Gen. Darrell K. Williams. Dr. Zurbuchen has been the head of science at NASA since 2016, during which time the agency landed the Perseverance rover on Mars, and successfully launched the Parker Solar Probe and James Webb Space Telescope. Dr. Zurbuchen was born in Switzerland and came to NASA from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where he was a professor of space science and aerospace engineering.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

HAMPTON, Va. – (September 16, 2020) \u2013 Hampton University is pleased to announce two new Interim Dean positions. Dr. Isi Ero-Tolliver is the new Interim Dean of the School of Science, and Dr. Sylvia Rose is the new Interim Dean of the James T. George School of Business. Both appointments begin immediately.<\/p>

HAMPTON, Va. (Aug. 28, 2020) \u2013 Hampton University Assistant Professor Dr. Vincent de Paul Nzuwah Nziko has been awarded a $199,834 grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to revamp the delivery method and environment for Organic Chemistry courses on campus. The goal of Dr. Nziko\u2019s project is to improve the success rate in terms of the quality and quantity of STEM majors in Organic Chemistry classes at Hampton University through various methods such as new technology and peer-to-peer interaction.<\/p>

HAMPTON, Va. (June 16, 2020) \u2013Hampton University has been awarded a five-year $1,554,390 grant from the National Institutes of Health \u2013 National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIH-NIGMS). This funding comes from the Undergraduate Research Training Initiative for Student Enhancement (U-RISE), which requires recipients to train and develop a diverse pool of undergraduate students in biomedical research to transition to research-focused higher degree programs.<\/p>

HAMPTON, Va. (May 8, 2020) \u2013 Hampton University student Sierra Williams-McLeod was recently selected to receive $10,000 as a 2020 EmPOWERED to Serve Scholar. The American Heart Association EmPOWERED to Serve Scholars are college freshmen, sophomores and juniors working as agents of change to create health equity in their communities. She was selected as one of ten students from over 170 entries from college students across the United States.<\/p>
