Bonita Sostre is an award-winning Coordinating Producer in the CBS News Race & Culture unit. She joined CBS News in 2015. She\u2019s traveled nationally and internationally on breaking news stories. She\u2019s covered everything from the Pulse Nightclub Shooting, the Bill Cosby trial, Ariana Grande\u2019s Concert bombing, to the 2020 social justice movement including Breonna Taylor and George Floyd. Most recently she\u2019s worked on the primetime network special \u201cPope Francis the First\u201d and is a producer on the award winning first of its kind news magazine \u201cAmerica in Black\u201d which focuses on stories affecting Black America. Sostre created the CBS Village, a website within the cbsnews.com brand which serves as a repository and showcase for all the diverse stories from CBS News and stations. She curates it daily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Before joining CBS News, she worked on the last season of BET\u2019s 106 and Park and as a Field Producer for ABC News. As a Field Producer she navigated breaking news, many live shots and worked with numerous correspondents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sostre began her career at NBC as a Page working on the Today Show, Saturday Night Live, Jimmy Fallon, MSNBC and CNBC, before working as a production associate at \u201cEarly Today.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sostre has earned several prestigious journalism awards including an Emmy for her work on CBS Mornings. She won a Gracie Award in 2021 for CBS This Morning, \u201cBreonna Taylor: Her Life, Death and Legacy<\/em> \u201cand again in 2022 for her work on 48 Hours: \u201cA Promise to Ahmaud<\/em>\u201d. She won The American Bar Association Silver Gavel Award and most recently the Ed Bradley Award for Investigative Journalism at the 2024 NYABJ Excellence Awards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n She is currently the President of NYABJ the New York chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Sostre graduated from Hampton University with a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism and minor in Political Science.
