This intervention is only one step in the retention efforts of our student population.&nbsp;<strong>PAN \u2013 ALERT<\/strong>&nbsp;is an online early intervention method that allows faculty and educators alike to identify struggling students and connect them to college resources.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Are there students in your classes who:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Have missed several class periods within the first few weeks of class?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Alert \u2013 Class Absence:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Students have missed 2 or more consecutive classes and\/or missed regularly (but not consecutively)<\/li>\n<li>Students has stopped attending your class<\/li>\n<li>Student has not responded to your communication after missing one or more classes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Have low test grades and\/or quiz? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Could use assistance with time management or study skills?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Have writing, reading and math deficiencies?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Alert \u2013 Poor Grades\/Assignment Concerns:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Student never, rarely, or inconsistently turns in assignments<\/li>\n<li>Student has not turned in a major assignment&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Student quiz\/exam grade indicate they\u2019re not grasping the material<\/li>\n<li>Student has missed an exam and has not contacted you within a reasonable amount of time<\/li>\n<li>Student grade is in jeopardy if the current level of performance continues<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Displays social misconduct or is disruptive in the class room?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Have personal issues that interfere with class attendance?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Alert \u2013 Other:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&nbsp;Student is demonstrating a lack of engagement\/participation<\/li>\n<li>Student is experiencing technology issues<\/li>\n<li>Student does not have required materials to be successful in the course<\/li>\n<li>Student mentions they\u2019re stressed about their financial situation or has an unforeseen financial emergency<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Performance is high or has significantly changed for the better?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Kudos Alert \u2013 Other:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Student makes significant efforts in contributing to being engaged in class<\/li>\n<li>Student demonstrates exemplary performance<\/li>\n<li>Student would make a good Student Success Center Peer Leader<\/li>\n<li>Student has made significant positive academic behavior changes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><br><\/h5>\n<div id=\"content\">\n<div id=\"ter_holder\">\n<div id=\"ter_content3col\">\n<p><strong>Student Contact:<\/strong>&nbsp; Students are encouraged to respond within 48 hours of receiving the notification.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Students who have not responded 72 hours after the initial referral will be notified and given another opportunity to contact the office for assistance.<\/li>\n<li>One week after the initial referral, the designee sends follow up to the professor and indicates which students were contacted.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>During the initial appointment:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Student signs the follow up form providing permission to inform referring instructor of topics addressed during meeting<\/li>\n<li>Student completes an academic intake form to determine their needs<\/li>\n<li>Academic intervention<\/li>\n<li>Handouts regarding student success may be given and techniques discussed regarding main areas of concern<\/li>\n<li>Student may be referred to Student Success Center, Reading Lab, Math Lab, Writing Center, Student Health Center, Counseling, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>During the semester:<\/strong>&nbsp;Students will be required to meet with a counselor once every two weeks or as often as needed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Follow up:&nbsp;<\/strong>Designee will follow up with the individual Professor regarding student contact.
