Educational Talent Search (ETS) is a federally funded TRIO program at Hampton University dedicated to identifying and supporting middle and high school students in Hampton City<\/strong> who demonstrate the potential to succeed in postsecondary education. The program prepares participants for a variety of pathways, including community colleges, technical and vocational schools, four-year colleges and universities, and proprietary institutions, ensuring each student is equipped to pursue the option that best aligns with their goals. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Serving more than 810 students annually, Hampton University\u2019s ETS program is committed to expanding access to higher education for students in Hampton City who are traditionally underrepresented, including those who may be the first in their families to attend college or who come from limited-income households. ETS takes\u00a0a holistic approach\u00a0to student development, recognizing that academic success is closely tied to personal growth, confidence, and access to resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants accepted into the program receive continuous support from middle school through high school graduation. This sustained engagement allows ETS staff to build meaningful relationships with students while guiding them through important academic and personal milestones. Services include academic advising, tutoring, study skills development, and standardized test preparation to strengthen overall academic performance and college readiness. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

In addition to academic support, ETS offers enrichment opportunities that expose students to college life and career pathways. These include college tours, cultural experiences, career exploration activities, and TRIO-sponsored events that foster a sense of belonging and motivation. Students also receive individualized assistance with college applications, essays, financial aid processes such as the FAFSA, and scholarship searches. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through these comprehensive services, Hampton University\u2019s ETS program empowers students in Hampton City to set ambitious goals, overcome barriers, and successfully enroll in and complete post-secondary education, preparing them for long-term academic and career success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Educational Talent Search (ETS) was established at Hampton University in 1978 as part of the university\u2019s commitment to expanding educational opportunity and access. Since its inception, ETS has played a meaningful role within the Hampton University community by engaging HU students as tutors, mentors, and role models who support and inspire program participants.
