Vice President for Information Technology

Dr. Adebisi Oladipupo, earned his Doctor of Science (Sc.D., 1987) and Masters of Science (S.M, 1984) degrees in Materials Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering Physics (Materials Science) in 1980 from the University of Ife, Nigeria.   

He also received a certificate in Higher Education Management from Harvard University (2006). Dr. Oladipupo is a certified mobile application developer and a certified IT service management professional (ITIL). He has designed, developed, and implemented computer applications for self-paced learning and distance learning as a faculty.  He is a co-author of three (3) engineering textbooks in Computer-Aided Design and has published and presented his work at national conferences. He has served as a technical reviewer for the National Science Foundation (NSF), the U.S. Department of Education (DoEd), and the U.S. Department of Commerce. He has consulted for companies such as International Business Machines (IBM), Lucent Technologies, and Motorola, Inc. in the area of pervasive computing, wireless navigation systems, and mobile smart agent development. 

He was one of twenty six (26) scientists and engineers selected nationwide to serve as a member of an inaugural NSF Advisory Board on Cyber infrastructure. He is a winner of the Thurgood Marshall Technology and Communications Leadership award. 

Dr. Oladipupo is currently serving as Professor of Engineering and the Vice President for  Information Technology at Hampton University, Hampton, Virginia. Prior to joining the Hampton University family, he worked at Morgan State University as the Vice President for Technology & CIO for nine (9) years and Norfolk State University, Norfolk Virginia as the inaugural Vice President for Research & Technology for seven (7) years and then as the Chief Information Officer for another four (4) years. Prior to joining Norfolk State University, he worked at Hampton University, Hampton, Virginia for thirteen (13) years where he progressed through the ranks  becoming the Assistant  Dean of the School of Engineering & Technology.  

He took a leave of absence in 2008 to serve as the Chief Technology Advisor to the Governor of Rivers State Government of Nigeria. He provided oversight on the development and design of a Science and Technology Innovation Park (Innovation Park@ Rivers).  This park envisioned diversification of the state’s economy from oil and gas into technology.
