A message from Chief David Glover of the Hampton University Police Department

We have an unwavering commitment to the safety & wellbeing of our students, alumni, staff, and guests. We’d like to share the enhanced safety protocols that we’ve implemented in preparation for our upcoming Homecoming activities.

  • Hampton University police officers are on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We have increased our presence with additional contract security professionals, as well as officers from our municipal and state public safety partners.
  • We have more than five hundred security cameras strategically placed across campus and nearly two dozen call boxes along various pathways so you can reach us in an emergency.
  • Don’t forget to download the LiveSafe app on your phone and select Hampton University. That’s effectively like having a callbox in your pocket.
  • Additionally, I’d like you to please follow what I call the “Three B’s”:
    1. Be Patient: Homecoming will attract record crowds and disrupt normal parking and driving patterns. Take proactive steps to maintain a festive spirit and allow extra time to arrive on campus on Game Day.
    2. Be Responsible: Follow our Clear Bag Policy and entrance procedures. And pay attention to the notices about parking, tailgating, and Game Day alcohol use.
    3. Be Responsive: If you need to reach us, please dial 757-727-5300 and request to speak with an officer, or dial 911. You can also submit anonymous tips through our LiveSafe app.

We stand in solidarity with our fellow HBCU peers and partners, united in our steadfast mission to furnish a secure learning and living environment for everyone who sets foot within our gates. Homecoming’s going to be an occasion to celebrate the essence of being a Pirate. We eagerly anticipate your return to your cherished Home by the Sea, whether for the first time or for a joyful reunion.

Thank you, and GO PIRATES!
