2021 Annual Hampton University Cybersecurity Awareness Training (August 31, 2021)

Hampton University requires annual cybersecurity awareness training for all faculty and staff to help safeguard our information systems and data. This training will be followed-up by quarterly “refresher” training topics to facilitate understanding of security awareness on-line.  The training program is designed to teach behaviors that help protect Hampton and those we serve and can benefit you and your family as well.   ***  Please check your Hampton University email for detail ***

IAC Sponsored Events

• The Tenth Information Assurance / Cyber Security Symposium (April 9, 2019, Student Center Ballroom, Hampton University) 

  This all-day event serves as an opportunity for the IA community to gather to discuss trends in IA, present research, develop collaborative relationships, and place students in internships and career positions.  This year theme is “CyberSecurity: Pathways to the Future” featured representatives from academia, industry, and govenment discussing a broad range of IA topics and career opportunities in the growing area of IA.

• Cybersecurity Seminars (November 12, 2019, Science & Technology 109, Hampton University)

This is a one-hour seminar to provide participants information related to day-to-day and personal security. This year speakers SFS, MS in IA students: Zhanel Tucker, Marjani Peterson, and Omari Hammond.

• Spring 2021 NCL(Online National Cyber League, March 26-28 Invidiual game)

The National Cyber League (NCL) is a cybersecurity competition that prepares students for a cyber career. In the NCL games, students work to solve challenges such as identifying hackers from forensic data, pentesting and auditing vulnerable websites, recovering from ransomware attacks, and more. Participate in the season to track student skills growth with an NCL Scouting Report or represent the school in the national Cyber Power Rankings.

• 2021 ADMI (March 25 – 27, 2021, Virtual)

The Association of Computer Science Departments at Minority Institutions (ADMI) is hosting a symposium devoted to computing issues relevant to minority students, education and institutions. This 2021 Symposium will highlight undergraduate and graduate research with particular interest on innovations in the computing field. 

• 2020 WiCyS (March 12 – 14, 2020 – CANCELLED);  WiCyS 2020 Virtual (April 15-17, 2020)

The Women in CyberSecurity (WiCyS) initiative was lunched in 2013 and has become a continuing effort to recruit, retain and advance women in cybersecurity. It brings together women (students/faculty/researchers/professionals) in cybersecurity from academia, research and industry for sharing of knowledge/experience, networking and mentoring. Through the WiCyS community and activities we expect to raise awareness about the importance and nature of cybersecurity career. We hope to generate interest among students to consider cybersecurity as a viable and promising career option. Any individual or organization interested in supporting recruiting and retention efforts for women in cybersecurity is encouraged to participate. Beyond the annual conference, WiCyS is a community of engagement, encouragement and support for women in cybersecurity.
