William R. Harvey Leadership Institute

The William R. Harvey Leadership Institute (WRHLI)—founded in Fall 2000—is the vision of Dr. William R. Harvey, Hampton University’s President with the purpose of developing leaders who make a positive difference in society, whatever their chosen profession. He envisioned a program, “emphasizing integrity, honesty, respect for others, decency, dignity and responsibility.” The objective is achieved through the use of Dr. Harvey’s Ten Step Leadership Model.

The WRHLI is an undergraduate program that enhances the regular university experience through an intensive, interactive curriculum comprised of 18 credit hours and a 400-hour service learning internship. Upon completion, students graduate with a minor in Leadership Studies.

To prepare exceptional students for leadership roles in their professions and in their communities.
