We’re excited to welcome you to The Escape, Hampton University’s most anticipated Homecoming event! Here’s everything you need to know to make the most of your exclusive nightlife experience on Pirate’s Island.

Your Guide to Seamless Entry: Electronic Ticket Redemption

Your ticket is a digital key that unlocks the gate. Follow these four simple steps, and your arrival will be as flawless as the performance to come.

Step 1: Prepare Your Ticket Before Arrival

  • Locate your email. Find your original ticket confirmation email.
  • Access your ticket. Follow the link in the email to open your mobile ticket. It may open in a web browser or prompt you to download a ticketing app.
  • Save for offline use. We strongly recommend adding your ticket to your phone’s digital wallet (Apple Wallet or Google Pay) ahead of time. You’ll have instant access, even without an internet connection, and avoid delays at the gate.

Step 2: Have Everything Ready

As you approach the entrance, have these items ready for our staff:

  • Your electronic ticket. Display the QR code clearly on your screen. Turn your screen brightness to the highest setting for a fast scan.
  • Valid photo ID. A government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license or passport, is required for entry and age verification.

Step 3: Proceed to the Correct Entrance

Follow the directional signs to the designated entry gates. Our staff will be there to guide you. If you have a VIP or special access ticket, look for signs pointing to your dedicated entrance lane for faster service.

Step 4: The Scan & Security Check

  • Present the QR code on your phone to the gate attendant for scanning.
  • After a successful scan, proceed through a standard security check. Please review our bag policy and prohibited items list in advance for a quick screening.

Important Details for a Smooth Experience

Arrival Time

Gates open at 6:00 PM. Arrive early to avoid lines and leave plenty of time for entry and security. The music awaits, and we don’t want you to miss a moment.

Keep Your Phone Charged

Your phone is your ticket, and a dead battery is a locked door. Fully charge your device before you leave, and consider bringing a small portable power bank as a backup. We’ll have limited charging stations on-site, but preparing ahead is your best strategy.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Even the best plans can hit a snag. Here’s how to handle the most common ones.

I can’t find my ticket email: Check your spam or junk folder first. Then use your email’s search function to look for the ticket vendor’s name or the event name.

My phone is lost, stolen or the battery died: Go to the Box Office at the Front Gate. Bring your valid photo ID and the credit card used to buy the tickets so our team can assist you.

The QR code won’t scan: Set your screen brightness to the highest level and make sure no cracks or smudges cover the code. If it still won’t scan, our gate staff can enter your ticket information manually with proper ID verification.

For holders of Harbor Club and Blue & White Pavilion passes.

Credential Pickup Schedule

You have two convenient options to collect your VIP credentials on Friday, October 23.

  • Option 1: Morning Pickup
    • Time: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
    • Location: Student Center Ballroom, during the Alumni & Friends Welcome event
  • Option 2: Afternoon/Evening Pickup
    • Time: 4:00 PM – 10:30 PM
    • VIP Check-In Table at the Front Gate of The Escape at Strawberry Banks

VIP Parking Instructions

For holders of Harbor Club and Blue & White Pavilion passes.

Navigating to Your Designated Lot

  1. Follow event signage. As you approach the venue, follow the official event signs over your GPS. They’ll lead you directly to the correct entrance for your lot (Lot 5, Lot 6 or VVIP Parking).
  2. Confirm your lot. Your parking pass shows your assigned lot. Proceed only to that lot. Entering a different lot will result in redirection and delays for you and fellow guests.

VIP Parking Locations

VIP and VVIP Parking are located on the grounds of the Hampton VA Medical Center.

  • Lots 5 & 6: Off Harrison Avenue
  • VVIP Parking: Next to the intersection of Franklin Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, directly across from the Strawberry Banks entrance

Displaying Your Parking Pass

Place your parking pass on your dashboard, facing forward, as you approach the parking entrance. This simple step lets our team grant you immediate entry.
