The Hampton University Museum Fashion Show included creations from Ampofo Designs, Stretch Couture and LaKaye Mbah Designs.  Models included students from The Biggers’ Circle, New Era Modeling Troupe, and Norfolk State University.  Members from Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. also served as models.  Members from the Terpsichorean Dance Company performed a piece created by Noelle Allen.

This event included a Director’s Chat, African Unveiled: Art in its many Forms.

Earlier in the afternoon, artists, Kwabana Ampofo-Anti, Professor of Art, Hampton University and Solomon Isekeije , Professor of Art and Chair of the Art Department, Norfolk State University were interviewed by Kimberli Gant, Ph.D., Curator of Contemporary Art, The Chrysler Museum of Art.

Members of Wazee Culture (Elders in Swahili) opened the event.  This group of local senior citizens formed in 2015, at the Hampton Parks and Recreation’s Senior Center, to practice African dance for exercise, culture and education.  Wazee Culture artistic director is  folklorist, Tchesar N. Jendayi.
