Inspired by Augusta Savage’s work, the Hampton University Museum hosted its very first digital discussion series on October 29 and November 5 2020 titled, Lift Every Voice: Social Justice Through the Arts. Participants were able to engage via Zoom to take part in meaningful conversation on how the arts play a role in shaping our society. By exploring the work of artists in our collection, like Augusta Savage and Elizabeth Catlett, the program provided insight into how these artists laid the groundwork for current artists and activists seeking justice and institutional change. Stay tuned for future sessions exploring different topics and artists!
