In 2008, the Reverend Dr. Debra Lynn Haggins was named university chaplain and pastor of the historic Memorial Church at Hampton University; the first female to hold this position in the university’s history. As university chaplain, Haggins serves in a dual capacity, as campus minister and as executive secretary of the nationally acclaimed Hampton University Ministers’ Conference-Choir Directors’ & Organists’ Guild Workshop.

Haggins previously served as the interim pastor of the historic Queen Street Baptist Church in Norfolk, Virginia. Prior to that, she served as assistant to the chaplain and faculty advisor to the Student Christian Association at Hampton University. Rev. Haggins has had a successful professional career with the Virginia Beach City Public School System and the Norfolk Public School System. Chaplain
Haggins has earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Early Childhood Education from Paine College in Augusta, Ga where she joined the sisterhood of the Eta Theta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. She received the Master of Science degree (M.S.Ed.) in Secondary School Administration and the Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies (CAS) in Higher Education Administration, both from Old Dominion University. She earned a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) in theology from The Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University.

In May of 2017, the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Higher Education Leadership and Management was conferred upon her from Hampton University. In 2021, Dr. Haggins earned the Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) from Emory University’s Candler School of Theology where her field of emphasis was Biblical Interpretation and Proclamation. Harold Carter Jr.

Dr. Harold A. Carter, Jr., pastor of New Shiloh Baptist Church is a third generation preacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, having been licensed and ordained in the church of his upbringing (1980), the New Shiloh Baptist Church, Baltimore, MD. Dr. Carter is an author, song writer, Gospel Radio Show Co-host, Chairperson of the New Shiloh Community Development Corporation & a Regent on the board of Morgan State University (HBCU).

Dr. Carter is a graduate of Eastern College, St. Davids, PA, earning a B.A. in English Literature, Writing and Religion, a graduate of the Lancaster Theological Seminary, Lancaster, PA, earning a Master of Divinity degree and is a graduate of the United Theological Seminary, Dayton, OH, earning the Doctor of Ministry degree. Among many other honors and awards, he received the Doctor of Divinity degree from the Virginia Seminary and College, Lynchburg, VA, and the Doctor of Humane Letter from Cumberland College, Williamsburg, KY. In 2006, he was inducted into the Board of Preachers, Morehouse College, Atlanta, GA. as a Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Distinguished Preacher. He served as a Co- Mentor (2003-2013) for more than 60 doctoral students at the United Theological Seminary. 

He is married to Rev. Monique T. Carter, and they are the parents of two sons, Rev. Daniel Carter (Jemima) and Timothy Alphonso Carter (Cornitra). He sees his“call” into the ministry as “The Divine Compulsion to do God’s Will.”

Robert C. Scott

A Visionary, Pastor, Preacher, and sought after speaker, the Reverend Dr. Robert Charles Scott is a native of Monticello, MS, and a resident of Charlotte, NC. He is married to Pier Charisse Scott, and they are the parents of Charis Jordyn Scott. He became the Senior Pastor of St. Paul Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC, in October 2016. St. Paul Baptist Church is a historically significant congregation with over 5000 disciples serving in the Charlotte/Mecklenburg County region since 1900. He preached his initial sermon at the age of 11,licensed at the age of 12, and ordained at the age of 18 at the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church (Monticello, MS). 

Dr. Scott is a 1986 honor graduate of Monticello High School. He attended Jackson State University in Jackson, MS, where he served his peers as president of the Student Government Association. In May 1991, he graduated with honors from JSU with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science/Pre-law. He pursued his seminary education at Duke University Divinity School, Durham, NC, and graduated in 1994 with a Master of Divinity. He earned his doctoral degree (at 29) from United Theological Seminary (Dayton, OH) in December 1997 under the mentorship of the Reverend Dr. Wyatt Tee Walker. He did his doctoral dissertation on The Dialectical Method of Preaching as Pastoral Care in the African American Church, graduated with high distinction, and was the youngest in his group.

He is greatly influenced by the late Reverend Dr. Samuel DeWitt Proctor, his professor and advisor at Duke; the late Reverend Dr. Wyatt Tee Walker, his doctoral mentor at United; and the late Reverend Dr. Charles E. Booth, his spiritual father.

The Reverend Dr. Robert C. Scott is an officer of the prestigious Hampton University Ministers Conference, serving as Vice President (2024-present). He is the Second Vice President of the Lott Carey Foreign Mission Convention (2024-present). He is the Board Chair for Zechariah Alexander Community Development Corporation (2016-present), which partnered with St. Paul Baptist Church to build an $18,000,000.00 housing development for seniors and affordable housing consisting of 112 family units. The Harvey B. Gantt Center recognized him as one of Charlotte’s Men of Change (2023). He is on the Board of Trustees for United Theological Seminary (Trotwood, OH), where he was honored as one of the 2016 Distinguished Alumnus Award recipients. He received the 2019 Citizen of the Year for Pi Phi Chapter (Charlotte, NC) of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He was the Centennial District Representative for the Eighth District of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. (April 2010-April 2013). At the Centennial Celebration of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, he received the Omega Psi PhiFraternity Century of Excellence Award in Religion. He received the 2008 International Omega Man of the Year Award (International Conclave, Raleigh, NC, July 2010). Dr. Scott was inducted into the Morehouse College Board of Preachers (April 2006) and was selected in the inaugural edition of the top twenty young preachers under 40 to watch by The African American Pulpit—Summer 2001 (an international preaching journal with an emphasis on Black preaching). He was one of the key organizers of A Call to Oneness, which organized over 20,000 African American men to march against violence and crime in St. Louis, MO (June 1, 2008). MO (August 2012-September 2016). He is a member of Collins Consistory #190 PHA F&AM, where he is a 32nd degree Mason and Monticello Lodge #348 PHA F&AM.

Danielle L. Brown

The Reverend Dr. Danielle L. Brown is the Senior Pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church in Plainfield, New Jersey. Elected on August 7, 2021, she is the first woman to serve in this capacity since the church’s founding in 1908. A natural leader, Rev. Dr. Brown has served in various capacities where she has worked to develop and implement ministry programs and strategies. She has a passion for mentoring and assisting in the development of faith and community leaders. 

Dr. Brown is currently a co-mentor to the Pointer/Brown/Goodman Doctoral Fellows at United Theological Seminary in Dayton, OH. She has the honor of serving on the Advisory Board of the Women in Ministry Conference, Inc. convened by The Rev. Dr. Cynthia L. Hale in Atlanta, GA, and as the Assistant Secretary of the Hampton Minister’s Conference. Dr. Brown is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Both servant and scholar, Rev. Dr. Brown holds Master of Education and Bachelor of Science Degrees from Virginia State University in Petersburg, Virginia, and both a Master of Divinity Degree and Master of Arts Degree from New Brunswick Theological Seminary in New Brunswick, New Jersey. She also holds an earned Doctor of Ministry Degree from Palmer Theological Seminary in St. David’s Pennsylvania, where she studied Leadership and Church Renewal. Rev. Dr. Brown loves God, God’s Church, and God’s people. She counts it an honor and a privilege to serve.

Charles E. Goodman

The Reverend Dr. Charles E. Goodman, Jr. celebrates eighteen years as the Senior Pastor and Teacher of the historic Tabernacle Baptist Church of Augusta, Georgia. Under his visionary leadership, the church has grown into “one church in multiple locations,” serving more than 15,000 partners, including the TAB Global audience through virtual and weekly in-person services. Before his tenure at Tabernacle, Dr. Goodman faithfully served as pastor of Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church in Salem, Alabama, for three and a half years.

A scholar and lifelong learner, Dr. Goodman holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors from Wake Forest University in Winston Salem, North Carolina. He earned his Master of Divinity degree from Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, and a Doctor of Ministry from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC. Further pursuing academic excellence, he completed a Master of Management with a concentration in Organizational Leadership at Cambridge College and participated in Yale University’s Clergy Scholars Program.  

In 2020, Dr. Goodman achieved an Executive Coaching Certification in Diversity through CoachDiversity and Howard University Business School collaboration. In 2023, he successfully defended his doctoral research on The Black Church and Leadership in Times of Crisis, earning a Ph.D. in Leadership from Anderson University in Anderson, South Carolina. That same year, he was selected as a Preaching Exemplar in the inaugural cohort for the Compelling Preaching Initiative at Christian Theological Seminary, under the leadership of Dr. Frank Thomas. This initiative seeks to advance the sacred tradition of African American preaching through scholarship and mentorship. In the summer of 2024, Dr. Goodman was elected Assistant Secretary for the prestigious Hampton University Ministers’ and Choir Guild Conference.

He serves on numerous community boards and contributes as an adjunct professor and mentor at various institutions of higher learning. A respected thought leader, he regularly publishes content on ministry methodologies and contemporary preaching. His ministry journey has taken him beyond the pulpit; he has preached and studied in the Holy Land, deepening his connection to the Scriptures and his commitment to service.

He has authored 4 books: You Can’t Run from Purpose, Road to Recovery, The Flip Side of Favor and It’s Complicated.

A native of Greensboro, North Carolina, Dr. Goodman credits his grandparents, Deacon Ernest, and Mrs. Charlotte Swann, for instilling in him a foundation of faith and service. Affectionately known as “PG” by his congregation, he is deeply respected as a servant-leader in his community.

Outside of ministry, Dr. Goodman is an avid sports enthusiast and a devoted Philadelphia Eagles fan. He is a proud member of Omega Psi Phi and Sigma Pi Phi fraternities.
