Transfer Credit Evaluations for Dual Enrollment, Early College and AP/IB Exams

Students who have completed dual enrollment courses, college courses, or AP and IB exams may be eligible for transfer credit.
Please submit your official college transcript via email to:  applicationstatus@hamptonu.edu.   The Office of Admission will complete an evaluation of credits and return the course review to your HU EMAIL address.  The accepted transfer credits will be added to your official student record in the Office of the Registrar and become a part of your official transcript.  Evaluations will be completed throughout the summer months and all transcripts received on or before June 30th will be reviewed by August 15th.   Please note only courses from regionally accredited institutions with a grade of C- or higher and an equivalent HU course will be awarded credit.  During the registration process, you may not wish to sign up for courses that you have already completed.  Please consult with the Office of Freshman Studies for counsel and and advisement for your fall course registration selections.

Guidance on Registering for Your English Course:

If you scored a 3 on the AP English Language/Composition exam, you’ll receive credit for ENG 101 and should register for ENG 102. A score of 4 or 5 earns you credit for both ENG 101 and ENG 102—no need to register for either. Remember, credit is only granted after official scores are submitted to the Registrar. Taking an AP course without the exam does not count for credit.
If your SAT Verbal is 580+ or ACT English is 25+, register for ENG 102H (Honors). A grade of C or better will earn you credit for ENG 101. If your scores are below these thresholds and you don’t have AP/IB credit, start with ENG 101.
