Message from the Vice President for Administrative Services

Dear Hampton University Students,

During this unprecedented time, it has been our goal to keep students informed and engaged. With this in mind, the Student Affairs Division embraced a new normal by providing virtual services and programming to students using Zoom, Blackboard Collaborate Ultra and several other department specific platforms. The virtual “12-2” activities, telehealth sessions, online tutoring, virtual meetings and workshops, as well as the virtual interviews and information sessions with recruiters at major companies, allowed us to continue to provide services to students even during the pandemic.

I have learned several lessons throughout this ordeal. The biggest lesson is the importance of exuding patience and being flexible. The best quote I heard in recent weeks was “Crisis does not build character. It reveals it.” Think about these ideas and how to apply them to your lives. I hope each of you finished the semester strong. Please take some time to reflect and regroup as you prepare for what lies ahead. Below are a few updates.

Residential Student Check Out

Residential students may return to their respective residence halls to pack their belongings and checkout of their residence hall rooms June 7 -14, 2020 from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm each day. The Residence Life and Housing Office will email a notice to your Hampton University email indicating YOUR predetermined specific day and time to check out. In an effort to checkout more than 2000 residents, it is imperative that everyone adhere to the schedule. Be prepared to pack your belongings within a two-hour period. You may bring one person to assist you and everyone must wear personal protective equipment, including facial coverings/masks and gloves at all times. Only students who have been scheduled will gain entry to the campus. No exceptions will be granted. All items must be removed from the residence halls by June 14, 2020. You may contact the Residence Life and Housing Office at housing@hamptonu.edu if you have a conflict. The university will provide dollies and laundry-type baskets to assist with loading. You must bring your own moving materials. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

Sending a virtual Hampton hug,

Barbara L. Inman, Ed. D.
