RECRUITING

On-Campus Recruiting (OCR) is a recruiting method used by employers seeking to hire interns and full-time students from some of the best and brightest talent. OCR is held during the fall and spring semesters. Interviews are held in the Career Center from 8:30 to 4:30, Monday thru Friday. Employers may reserve interview rooms in advance by submitting a request through (Symplicity) PirateLink e-recruiting platform, or by calling the Recruiter at 757-727-5331. Employers make the interview request and receives an e-mail confirmation.

The Career Center staff reaches out to diverse employers from across the country with an invitation to visit campus and recruit students from all majors. Employers must comply with the Career Center Recruiting Guidelines in order to participate in On-Campus Recruiting (OCR).

STRENGTHEN YOUR "BRAND"

The Hampton University Career Center offers several options to strengthen your “Brand” on campus. These options include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Posting Jobs and Internship in Symplicity (PirateLink) – Hampton University’s on-line platform
  • Information Table: Students will stop by a high-traffic area to learn more about your company during a specific time frame
  • Office Hours: Similar to the information table in that students may stop by throughout a specified time frame; however, can be targeted to specific school(s) or major(s)
  • Mock Interviews: A full day of mock interviewing which gives students practice interviewing and getting to know your company
  • Resume Critiques: Schedule appointments with students from targeted majors to review resumes and allow students to learn what you are looking for on the resume
  • Corporate Student Campus Ambassador: allows a Hampton University students to assist in introducing and building your company’s brand on campus
  • Information Sessions: A targeted group of students (by major(s) and/or classification(s)) will assemble at a set time to learn more about your company in an enclosed setting
  • Seminars and Workshops: Conduct Career and Professional Development seminars and workshops on various topics
  • Internship Program/Co-Op Programs/Job-shadowing/Externships: Offer an internship opportunity that will provide students with hands-on understanding in their field of study 
  • Employer Day: A day where an employer may plan on-campus activities for a full or half-day. The Career Center will work with the employer to schedule appointments with various academic departments

Employers are encouraged to connect with students through Virtual Recruiting events. Virtual events can be hosted through video conferencing platforms of the employer’s choice. PirateLink is Hampton University’s online platform that allows employers reach out to students and also post internship and full-time positions. Virtual events allow students to receive guidance and advice on their professional development, and allows employers to connect with students for future recruiting. Career Center staff will promote all employer events to students and alumni through e-mail and PirateLink.

SERVING FOOD AT YOUR EVENT

The Career Center staff is happy to provide recommendations for food vendors.  Alcohol may not be served at employer-hosted events.

DIRECTIONS/PARKING INSTRUCTIONS

When visiting Hampton University, please check in at the main entrance (check-in) station. After arriving at the Security gate, the University Police will issue a visitor-parking pass and provide directions to a parking lot. Please contact the Career Center at 757-727-5331 with questions.
