RE: Microsoft Authenticator
Dear Hampton University Students:

Install the Microsoft Authenticator App on your mobile device to ensure secure access to your 365 Enterprise applications (E.g., Gallagher, WSJ, etc.).
This app is an essential, powerful tool that enhances the security of your Microsoft account (Ex, firstname.lastname@my.hamptonu.edu).
By using this app, you’ll add an extra layer of protection to your account, making it more resilient against unauthorized access.

What Is Microsoft Authenticator?
Microsoft Authenticator is a mobile app that provides two-factor authentication(2FA) for your Microsoft account. Here’s how it works:

• Generates time-based one-time passcodes (TOTPs).
• You’ll use these TOTPs alongside your password during sign in
• This additional step ensures that even if someone obtains your password, they won’t be able to access your account without the TOTP generated by the app.

Once you have completed the Microsoft Authenticator install using the linked instructions when signing into your Microsoft account (Ex, firstname.lastname@my.hamptonu.edu), you’ll need both your infotech default password and the TOTP generated by the app.
