Anti-Malware and Intrusion Prevention
Promotion of responsible IT security practices at Hampton University is always ongoing and as such we utilize various tools for anti-virus (AV), anti-spyware (AS) and email security.
HU owned computers: We use and support Symantec Endpoint Protection. HU faculty and staff can contact the Computer Center for more information.
Personal computers: HU does not endorse nor take responsibility for users installing the variety of free (and paid) products available. It is, however, still important that everyone use some sort of malware protection.
Email Security and Protection
Email security techniques are promoted for keeping sensitive information in email communication and accounts secure against unauthorized access, loss, or compromise.
- Banner
(Ellucian) Banner is our enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. It provides management of the flow of information between all business functions and departments within our institution, as well as maintaining student, alumni, financial and personnel data.

Outlook Mail Client
Domain joined computers that are provisioned with Microsoft Office will provide Faculty and Staff access to email via the Outlook mail client application. Access is automatically granted upon successful authentication to the domain joined computer.
