Why We Are Moving to VoIP?
- Work from Anywhere
This transition provides greater flexibility for faculty and staff. Your office extension is no longer tied to a physical desk. Calls can be made and received through a computer or mobile app, making it easy to stay connected with students and colleagues from a classroom, lab, office, or remote location. - Enhanced Campus Safety
The new system strengthens campus safety by providing precise location information to emergency responders through E911. In an emergency, calls automatically identify the specific building, floor, and room. - Improved Efficiency and Cost Savings
By leveraging the University’s existing network infrastructure, VoIP reduces long-term maintenance costs. Departments can quickly add or relocate lines without the need for specialized or costly phone wiring in campus buildings. - Modern Communication ToolsÂ
Faculty and staff gain access to advanced features such as voicemail-to-email, integrated video conferencing, and the ability to easily scale phone services as departments grow. - What to Expect
Installation of the new VoIP phones will be rolled out in phases by the department. Click the button below to learn more about the implementation timeline and what to expect for your area.
