Wireless Network Engineer – Center for Information Technology

A successful candidate will be responsible for the health and maintenance of a large enterprise 802.11 Wireless networking infrastructure. This includes providing network administration and operational support for thousands of Access Points. The engineer should be able to work both independently and as part of a team. This is a full-time position reporting to the manager of the Network and Communication Services unit. The engineer is expected to partner with the information security personnel (CISO) to assess potential exposure to vulnerabilities, identify mitigation plans, and ensure compliance with enterprise security baselines and standards. Job Duties:

  • Perform and review wireless RF coverage for optimization.
  • Deploys and maintain network hardware, peripherals, services, and settings in accordance with industry
    standards and project/operational requirements.
  • Performs daily system monitoring; verifies the integrity and availability of networking hardware, services,
    systems, and key processes; reviews system and application logs.
  • Documents and performs network upgrades and modifications.
  • Develops and maintains installation and configuration procedures.
  • Creates reports and analyze performance metrics • Adhere to change management processes and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • 3 – 5 years of relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Extensive experience managing and monitoring the health of Aruba Controllers, Access Points and
    Management Devices to include Airwave Management Platform (AMP)
  • Experience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting network systems, switching, and routing protocol
    standards such as: TCP/IP, MPLS, OSPF, BGP, SDN, and 802.1x. • Experience managing and
    troubleshooting DNS, DHCP, IPAM, and NTP
  • Experience using network management and analysis tools such as SNMP probes, network taps, and traffic
    analyzers.
  • One or more of the following active network certifications is preferred:
    o Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA)
    o Certified Wireless Network Professional (CWNP)
    o Aruba Certified Mobility Associate (ACMA)
    o Aruba Certified Mobility Professional (ACMP)
    o Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA)
    o Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
