Hampton University Faculty

Employment Opportunities
Position: Full Time Faculty
Description:

Provost

Hampton University invites applications and nominations for the position of Provost. The University seeks an accomplished academic leader with a strong record of progressive leadership who can build upon its academic and programmatic strengths and provide strategic and visionary leadership for the Hampton academic community.

Hampton University serves nearly 3,700 students representing 39 states and 24 territories and nations. Offering more than 133 academic programs, delivered by more than 275 faculty, the University helps students reach their career goals—and exceed their dreams. The University offers 82 bachelor’s, 30 master’s, and 10 doctoral degree programs. Roughly one-third of all Hampton students pursue a course of study in the School of Liberal Arts and Education, with strong enrollment in the Schools of Science and Business, the Franklin W. Olin School of Engineering, Aviation and Architecture, and the Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications. Select students may also be admitted to study in the Freddye T. Davy Honors College, which offers an expanded curriculum committed to the development of intellectual and ethical leadership skills. Hampton University offers opportunities far beyond those of a typical mid-sized research university. The Hampton University Proton Cancer Institute (HUPCI), the first proton therapy cancer treatment center in the Commonwealth of Virginia, is an unparalleled cancer treatment, research, and technology hub. The HUPCI provides unique educational, research, internship, and other opportunities to Hampton students while serving a lifesaving public need in the Tidewater Virginia area.

As the chief academic officer, the Provost reports to the President and is responsible for the academic enterprise. Successful candidates will be well positioned to maintain and enhance academic programs, promote interdisciplinary faculty collaboration, highlight, and bring exposure to STEM fields, lead accreditation processes, promote the research enterprise, and advance the attainment and management of grants.
