Director for Alumni Operations-Alumni Affairs and Parental Relations

The Director of Alumni Operations is responsible for the strategic operational alignment of policies, programs and initiatives that engage Alumni through institutional support and service for the Office of Alumni Affairs and Parental Relations.   The incumbent strategizes and plans flagship fundraising and stewardship events for the department and as needed, division-wide.

Job Duties:

· Reports to the Assistant Vice President for Alumni and Parental Relations, the Director will support the strategic goals for the University and will be responsible for leading a team of Directors, and other staff, in creating and introducing new ideas in support of our 30,000 + alumni and parents living across the globe.

· Provides leadership and support to the Assistant Vice President for Alumni and Parental Relations regarding Alumni giving; routinely identifies and qualifies Alumni prospects for major gifts.

· Engages alumni in the life of the University through exceptional customer service, and meaningful opportunities for volunteerism, personal and professional development, events, and programs.

· Designs, plans, implements, and evaluates effective alumni and parent programming.

· Updates and ensures that policies and procedures are up-to-date and in place and in alignment within the Division as well as university-wide.

· Manages the effective planning and coordination of all flagship events for the Office of Alumni Affairs and Parental Relations (i.e., Homecoming Weekend, Annual Day of Giving, and Reunion Weekend).

· Works directly with Special Events and Projects Coordinator to effectively brainstorm, plan, and manage successful events for the entire Division of Advancement and External Engagement.

· Works in partnership with other University divisions and departments, that further engage alumni and parents in the day-to-day activities of Hampton University including partnering with the Office of Advancement to identify and cultivate alumni and parents for roles as potential volunteers and/or donors.

· Provides support to the Assistant Vice President for Alumni and Parental Relations and the Vice President for Advancement and External Engagement for all other departmental and divisional efforts.

· Assists at donor-related events, often on weeknights or weekends, and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred and minimum 4 years of related work in an educational or non-profit setting.

· Solid experience in computer and information technology or database management preferred.

Requirements:

· Excellent management and problem solving skills.

· Strong team leader and communicator.

· Excellent verbal and written skills.

· Ability and familiarity with managing various social media accounts.

· Ability to work independently; excellent attention to detail required.

· Willingness to travel required.

· Some evening and weekend work required.
